Virgin Watermelon Mojito 


Virgin mojito with watermelon and cucumber. 

A refreshing, delicious and chilled drink to keep your body hydrated. Watermelon and cucumber both have high water content. So its a perfect drink to beat the heat.

Mojito is a traditional Cuban highball. Traditionally mojito is a cocktail or alcohol based drink consist of mint leaves, lime juice, sugar sparkling water and white rum.

But alcohol free virgin mojito has lime juice, mint leaves and sugar syrup.

I have made this mojito sugar-free.  You don’t need to add sugar because this mojito has natural sweetness of watermelon. But you can add little sugar or sugar syrup if you want your drink more sweet. 

Watermelon is a most refreshing fruit of this summer season. Its low in calories but high in vitamin A, C and many healthy plant compounds. This fruit have high water content so its help you to keep your body hydrated and help you feel full.

And some benefits of cucumbers are 

Cucumbers are predominantly made of water.

Some people use cucumbers to soothe sunburn.

Early research shows that a compound found in cucumbers might help fight cancer.

Cucumbers contain lignan, which may help fight cardiovascular disease.

Cucumber is a versatile foodstuff and can be added to a variety of dishes.

Our this week’s #Foodiemonday bloghop theme is watermelon. My contribution is this virgin mojito with watermelon and cucumber. 

This mojito is not only refreshing and delicious but healthy too. And mint, lemon and back salt makes this mojito super yummy.

Recipe 


Seedless watermelon cubes – 2 cup 

Cucumber – 1 small peeled and chopped 

Grated ginger – 1/2 teaspoon 

Mint leaves – 1/4 cup 

Lemon juice – 2 tablespoon 

Club soda – 1/2 cup

Black or pink salt – 1/2 teaspoon or to taste 

Black pepper powder – 1/2 teaspoon or to taste 

Mint leaves and lemon wedges for garnishing
Crushed ice optional 

Method 


Combine seedless watermelon cubes, peeled and chopped cucumber, grated ginger, lemon juice and black or pink salt. 

Blend in a mixer blender. Blend until smooth. 

Strain the mixture. 

Add club soda. Taste and adjust salt  pepper and lemon juice if require. You can add sugar or sugar syrup if you want your drink more sweet. 

Pour the mixture into a glass. Add some crushed ice. 

Garnish with mint string, lemon and watermelon wedges. Place a mint leaf in the glass. 

Serve chilled. Enjoy………….

Virgin mojito or mocktail with watermelon and Fanta.
Mojito is a traditional Cuban highball.

Traditionally mojito is a cocktail or alcohol based drink consist of mint leaves, lime juice, sugar sparkling water and white rum.

But virgin mojito has lime juice, mint leaves and sugar syrup.
And mocktail is a non alchoholic drink which consists of a mixture of fruit juices, syrups or soft drinks.

Call it virgin mojito or mocktal but taste is awesome.
Weather is too hot. And its a perfect drink to beat the heat.

I haven’t used sugar in it. I have a Fanta bottle so used it but you can use any  orange flavored carbonated drink.

You can use sparkling water or soda water too but then you have to use sugar in it. You can make it with litchi too if you don’t like watermelon.

Recipe

Watermelon cubes  – 2 cup seedless

Lemon juice  – 2 teaspoon

Mint leaves  – 1/4 cup loosely packed

Fanta  – 1/2 cup

Ice cubes  – as require

Method

Combine watermelon cubes, mint leaves and lemon juice. If you don’t like mint much add only few leaves. Blend till smooth.

Strain the mixture and add Fanta. You can use any orange flavored carbonated drink too.

If you are using sparkling water or soda water add sugar to taste before blending.

Keep the mixture in refrigerator for an hour to chilled.
Now place some ice cubes and few fresh mint leaves in a glass. Pour the mixture over it.

Garnish with mint spring,  lemon and watermelon wedges.
Serve chilled.
Enjoy the heavenly taste.

Recipe

Carrot juice – 1/4 cup

Orange juice – 1 cup

Grapes – 1 cup

Apple – 1 peeled and chopped

Banana – 1 chopped

Cinnamon powder – a pinch

Ice cubes – as require

Method

Squeeze out fresh juice of orange. You can use canned juice too. Grate the carrots and squeeze out the juice.

Take everything in a blender jar. Add ice cubes if you want. I have made it without ice and kept in fridge for an hour to get chilled smoothie. You can use frozen fruits too.

Blend on high speed until smooth and frothy.
Pour the mixture in a glass. Garnish with grape,apple slice, cherry or tutty fruity.

Beat the heat with this chilled yummy smoothie.

Happy Holi in advance.
Holi is a spring festival, also known as the festival of colours or the festival of sharing love.

On this colourful festival of Holi thrill your guests with this non alcoholic mocktail drink.
Fruit punch made of orange, pomegranate, grapes, lemon and thandai.

Thandai is a traditional drink for Holi.
Thandai, is a cold drink prepared with a mixture of almonds, fennel seeds, magaztari seeds, rose petals, pepper, vetiver seeds, cardamom, saffron, milk .

Thandai is a refreshing summer drink. It helps to cool the body, give freshness and energy and have many other health benefits.

Presenting the colour red.
Red is the color of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love.

The tangy taste of orange combined with pomegranate, grapes, lemon and thandai makes the drink super yummy and healthy too.

Recipe

Pomegranate juice – 1 cup

Orange juice – 1 cup

Grape juice – 1/2 cup

Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon

Powdered sugar – 2 tablespoon or to taste

Thandai syrup – 2-3 teaspoon

Ice cubes as require

Method

Wet the rim of the glass that you are going to serve the drink.
Spread the powdered sugar in a plate and dip the glass rim in it so that the rim gets coated with powdered sugar. Keep it aside.

Combine all the juices. Add powdered sugar and thandai syrup. Mix well.
Strain the mixture.

Pour in the glass you prepared for serving. Garnish with pomegranate seeds,orange and lemon wedges.

Serve chilled.
Enjoy this mocktail with the goodness of fruits on this Holi and beat the heat.
