Ramadan Mubarak

Muslims are observing Ramadan, a holy month of fasting and religious devotion.

Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic calendar and is the holiest of the month as it is believed that the Holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammed during this month.

During this holy month of Ramadan Muslims are required to abstain from eating and drinking from dawn till sunset.

Drinks play a vital role when we are on fasting. A glass of chilled and refreshing drink at Iftaar time is energy boosting.

Fasting is a tough task for people, who abstain from food and drink until sunset in this summer season.

Our this week’s 97th #Foodiemonday bloghop theme is #Ramadan recipes.

Fasting people need to drink more after Iftaar in order to avoid dehydration.

So here is a refreshing chilled and yummy dairy free beetroot smoothie for Iftaar. Beetroots are high in immune-boosting vitamin C, fiber, and essential minerals.

You don’t need to add sugar in it. You can add black salt or rock salt and black pepper powder if you like. I didn’t.

Recipe 


Seedless beetroot – 1 cup cubed

Cucumber – 1 medium

Lemon – 1

Grated ginger – 1/2 teaspoon

Cinnamon powder – 1/2 teaspoon

Flax seed powder – 1 teaspoon
Ice cubes as required
Lemon wedge for garnishing

Method 


Boil the whole beetroot with skin in a pressure cooker.

Let it cool down. Peel and chop the beetroot into small pieces.

Peel and grate or chop the Cucumber. Make small pieces for easy blending.

Combine every ingredients with juice of 1 lemon. You can add some ice cubes too.

Blend until smooth and frothy.

You don’t need to add sugar in it.

Taste and add more lemon juice if require. You can add black salt or rock salt and black pepper powder if you like. I didn’t.

If you don’t like cinnamon, you can omit it. Add few mint leaves instead of cinnamon.

Place some ice cubes in the glass. Pour the mixture over it.

Garnish with lemon wedge. Serve chilled.

Navaratri is a festival dedicated to the worship of the Hindu deity Durga. The word Navaratri means nine nights in Sanskrit, nava meaning nine and ratri meaning nights. During these nine nights and ten days, nine forms of Devi are worshipped.

Watermelon, litchi, peach, dates, Tulsi/holy basil and almond smoothie.
I always like to take a glass of smoothie in my fasting days. On these days salt and grains are not allowed.

Refreshing, filling and delicious smoothie is a best way to hydrate us in this scorching summer. And its a without sugar and dairy free smoothie so perfect for everyone even diabetic people too.

I have added little cucumber too which provides antioxidants and anti-inflammatory benefits.

A smoothie with litchi. This juicy summer treat is not only yummy. It is highly rich in nutrients and offers numerous benefits for your skin, hair, and health that make it more irresistible.

Peaches also offer a rich treasure of minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, manganese, phosphorous, zinc, and copper.

Peaches are low in calories, contain no saturated fat or cholesterol, and are a good source of dietary fiber.

Refreshing Watermelon soaked with nutrients. Contents vitamin A. B6, C, antioxidant and amino acids.
Its detoxifying, support immune system, lower cholesterol and blood sugar.

And we all know that Tulsi or Holy Basil, which has the scientific name Ocimum Sanctum is undoubtedly one of the best medicinal herb that has been discovered.

Watermelon juice  – 1 cup

Litchi – 5

Peach  – 2

Dates  – 5

Tutsi or holy basil – 5-6 leaves

Almonds  – 5 soaked and peeled

Cucumber  – 1/2 peeled and grated

Cinnamon powder  – a small pinch

Juice of 1 lemon

Ice cubes as require

Method

Peel the litchis. Remove the seeds of litchis, dates and peach and chop them.

Now combine everything in a blender. Blend till smooth and frothy.

Place some ice cube in a glass and pour the smoothie over it.
Enjoy chilled, healthy and delicious smoothie with the goodness of fruits.

Muskmelon/Kharbuj/Cantaloupe Orange And Coconut Smoothie

A delicious and super healthy dairy free smoothie with muskmelon, orange juice and coconut.

Orange juice – 1 cup

Musk melon – 1

Tender coconut – 1/4 cup  grated

Flax seed powder – 2  teaspoon optional

Sugar or honey  – 2 – 3 teaspoon or to taste

Cinnamon powder – 1/4  teaspoon

Juice of 1/2 lemon

Ice cubes  – as require optional

Method

Peel, deseed and chop the muskmelon. Mix everything blend till smooth and frothy.

Taste and adjust the sweetest.
Pour in your favourite glass , add ice cubes and enjoy the chilled and yummy drink.

I am sharing a super healthy and super yummy smoothie recipe.
Kick start your special day with this pomegranate apple and banana smoothie.

Pomegranate is the healthiest food on the earth.
Delicious pomegranate have antioxidants, antiviral and antitumor properties. This fruit is good source of vitamins and folic acid.

Pomegranate consists of more antioxidants than green tea.
Many studies have shown that pomegranate have incredible benefits of our body and lower the risk of all sorts of diseases.

Studies suggest that regular consumption of pomegranates or its juice may reduce the risk of heart disease, reduce high blood pressure and inhibit viral infections.
You can call it a healthy powerhouse.

Recipe

Pomegranate  – 1

Apple  – 1

Banana  – 1/2

Cashew nuts or raisins  – 2 teaspoon

Method

Use a juicer to take out  pomegranate juice. Or just blend pomegranate seeds for few seconds only. Blend for only 1 pulse. Strain the juice.

You can use 1 cup canned juice too.
Peel and dice the apple. Blend with banana and cashew nuts or raisins in a blender. I have used  cashew nuts. You can add any nuts of your choice.

Serve chilled.
If you don’t like apple or banana you can use strawberry or grapes too.

Make pomegranate strawberry smoothie to get more vibrant colour.

Papaya smoothie.
We should include papaya in our diet not only for it’s sweet taste but lots of health benefits.

They are rich sources of antioxidant nutrients, vitamins and minerals etc.

It helps in weight loss and boost immunity.
Rich in fibre which helps to lower cholesterol.

Some more health benefits of consuming papaya include a reduced risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, aiding in digestion, improving blood glucose control in diabetics, lowering blood pressure, and improving wound healing.

I don’t like papaya but in this way just love it.

And its dairy free smoothie. No milk or yogurt added. A smoothie without any calorie.

Grapes  – handful

Mint leaves  – few

Honey  – 1 teaspoon

Juice of 1 orange

Few drops of lemon juice (optional)

Method

Combine all the ingredients in a blender. Blend till smooth and frothy.
Pour in a glass.

A perfect blend for fasting or dieting people.

Dairy free smoothie.
Its sweet lime, apple, guava, cinnamon and almonds smoothie with honey and cinnamon. You can add any other fruits too.

Smoothie is a best way to get in a delicious blend of nutritional goodness to kick start the day.

I have made it completely dairy free. No milk or curd. Nothing dairy, only the goodness of fruits and flavour of cinnamon.

I have added frozen fruits. If you don’t have frozen fruits add handful of ice in the blender.

Apple  – 1 peeled and chopped

Guava  – 1 deseed and chopped

Almonds  – few soaked in water peeled and chopped

Honey  – 2 teaspoon

Cinnamon powder – 1 teaspoon

Juice of 2 sweet lime.

Method

Combine all the ingredients in a blender. Blend it till smooth and frothy.

Pour in a glass.
Garnish with lime wedges. Enjoy the calorie free smoothie.
